When I purchased these Cobra "R" rims, they were
certainly very rare and NOT found on every other Cobra like they are today.
However, they were not available in polished aluminum so Is sent them out
locally to get them polished. The beautiful part about having polished rims
over chrome, is that scratches and other imperfections are easy to fix.
I wrote a tech article on this subject so if
you have scratches or curb marks on your polished rims click
HERE.
Painting the brake calipers and center of rotor is
quite simple >>>
Step 1) . Pull the
rim.
Step 2). Use Brake
cleaner to clean entire service to be painted. Use a wire brush where needed.
Step 3). Using an
"artists" paintbrush - yes, one with about 20 bristles that you would paint a
picture with, use this to very carefully paint the calipers and hubs. You will
require 2 coats to cover properly - follow instructions for waiting the
appropriate time between coats.
Step 4). Don't put
the rim back on till you absolutely know the paint has cured.
